Real Patient, Real Results

Patient has old and unsightly crowns with recession of the gums on many of his teeth. He is also a heavy grinder and over the years has flattened his lower front teeth. He was unhappy that his top teeth were so bright, and his bottom teeth were dark. He wanted his whole smile to appear a more normal color for his age and more uniform look. He didn’t want to change the shape of his upper teeth. Using digital scanning technology, we were able to keep the overall shape of his upper teeth when fabricating his new upper corners. He was very happy with the final result amd the overall health of his gums.

Dr. Diacoloukas plans full mouth reconstructions by taking digital X-rays and viewing the teeth, gums, and jaw to see the extent of the patient’s dental needs. He also collaborates with Friendship Dental Lab, his family-owned laboratory, to create custom-made restorations. A full mouth rehabilitation can address major dental problems that affect everyday life:

Gum Disease and Tooth Decay

Before Dr. Diacoloukas addresses tooth damage or missing teeth, he must address signs of infection. Dr. Diacoloukas will recommend scaling and root planing for patients with gum disease. These deep-cleaning treatments remove harmful bacteria from the gums and tooth roots. Dr. Diacoloukas may recommend a root canal or tooth extraction for patients with tooth decay, depending on the extent of their tooth damage. If their dental infection affects the dental pulp or the nerves and blood vessels inside their tooth, Dr. Diacoloukas can remove the infected pulp and clean the tooth chamber. However, if the damage is too severe, Dr. Diacoloukas will extract the tooth and plan a restoration.

Damaged Teeth

Patients with chipped, cracked, fractured, or worn teeth may require bonding, partial crowns, or full crowns, depending on the extent of their tooth damage. For more minor areas of damage, we will recommend dental bonding. Bonding treatment uses tooth-colored materials that add structure to chips and fractures. Dental bonding can also change the color of teeth. Partial crowns, or inlays and onlays, can cover the chewing surfaces of damaged teeth. Inlays and onlays are separate pieces we bond to the top of teeth. Dental crowns fully cover damaged teeth like caps.

Lost Teeth

Missing permanent teeth make a large difference in the appearance and function of the smile. Whether you have a single missing tooth or all of your teeth missing, Dr. Diacoloukas can plan a restoration tailored to your needs. Dental implants are the premier restorative option for patients missing permanent teeth. Implants can support single dental crowns, dental bridges, or complete dentures. Replacing missing teeth with a lasting restoration improves the smile’s appearance, bite function, and speech.
